Diablo II Resurrected is still suffering from major outages several weeks after launch

Blizzard’s popular online action-RPG, Diablo II, was released on May 15th to a number of technical issues. The game has been plagued with outages and bugs since its release, and it is unclear when the problems will be fixed.

Blizzard’s Diablo II Resurrected is still suffering from major outages several weeks after launch. The game has been released on June 2nd, but players are still encountering problems with the game.

MMO gamers have been busy with the debut of New World for the past two weeks, so they haven’t paid much attention to Diablo II Resurrected, which came out less than a week before New World and has had its own set of issues. Blizzard’s remaster of the old classic was released on September 23rd, and while our own reviewer was enthralled by the new look, the online servers were plagued with issues almost from the start, with players losing character progress and experiencing character lockouts, multiplayer lobby issues, launch issues, and multiple episodes of downtime.

The servers were once again hammered throughout the weekend, as shown by Blizzard’s NA and EU customer support Twitter accounts, which reported login and connection difficulties for substantial portions of every day this weekend and into this morning. As I write this, the studio’s most recent remarks indicate that the “research into the connectivity problems” is still ongoing.

The Diablo and D2R subreddits are often ablaze, but it’s particularly so right now, as impacted players are furious that the problem isn’t only about login and connection problems, and that they’re experiencing rollbacks as well. Internal game servers are also having difficulties, according to MOP’s Brendan Drain, which explains the rollbacks.

Blizzard’s only major release in the second half of 2021 was Diablo II Resurrected, though the third quarter ended just a few days after the game’s release, so this round of messes won’t have an immediate impact, though it’s an unfortunate turn for the game that Blizzard clearly hoped would lift the Warcraft 3: Reforged curse from its remasters.

Diablo 2 Resurrected’s outage chart from hell

The Diablo II Resurrected servers continue to fall down, and Blizzard’s excuses of “login problems” or “connection issues” are a sham. Internal game servers are unavailable, resulting in widespread character rollbacks. In a game that revolves on looting and trade. #D2R https://t.co/ZFnANGuvTk

Due to a lengthy series of controversies in the MMO and gaming sector over the past several years, including the Blitzchung boycott, huge layoffs, labor conflicts, and executive pay debacle, Activision-Blizzard is regarded a problematic business in the MMO and gaming industry. The company was sued by the state of California in the summer of 2021 for fostering a work environment that was riddled with sexual harassment and discrimination, and the company’s disastrous response has added to Blizzard’s ongoing pipeline issues and the widespread perception that its online games are on the decline. Multiple state and federal authorities are investigating the business as of autumn 2021.
