Issues With Simulation Continuity And Statistics

This problem occurs most often with the secondary, and although the creators have released patches to assist resolve the issue, it is still there – just not as prominently as it was during the early access period.

My back four defenders weren’t the only ones who had an issue. I’ve also seen my linebackers respond as if they were executing a Matt Nagy game plan on a few times.

Also, after simulating many seasons, I came across certain statistical outliers, such as quarterbacks with rushing yards comparable to the greatest running backs and multiple wide receivers with over 1,500 yards receiving. The receiving yards component isn’t significant, because in the (actual) NFL in 2020, just one receiver had more than 1,500 yards. In my fourth year as a head coach, though, nine receivers hauled in enough passes to break the 1,500-yard barrier.

Is this, once again, a big deal? I’d say no, but for many people, including myself, seeing inflated numbers may detract from the overall pleasure of the game. Nonetheless, the devs do an excellent job of recognizing community complaints and resolving them as best they can in game with engine changes.

Display in the Field

While this may seem to many (including myself) to be a small issue, it is nonetheless a problem. The action is shown on a two-dimensional field with two-dimensional circles representing each player presently engaged in the specified play in DDS: Pro Football.

The little rings of talent travel about the field in the hopes of providing a more tactile and visual experience than previous sports simulators, which were typically text-based.

I’ve highlighted it previously in prior articles on Wolverine football championships, and I’ll continue to do so in the future. I like their simulation engine, which, although far from flawless, produces some very accurate results for both individual games and season-long aggregated data. My hope is that they will be able to offer a visual experience similar to the Pro Strategy Football series, where real players move about the field.
