Hurricane Ida is forecast to hit Louisiana on Sunday afternoon or late. Because hurricane predictions are subject to change, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the storm on radar for the most up-to-date information. Here are several live feeds and cameras that will show the storm as it approaches the United States. Please be aware that any stream may go down without notice due to unforeseeable technical difficulties caused by the weather.
Where to Find Livestreams and Webcams from Storm-Affected Areas
HurriCams is a Twitch channel that provides live traffic cams of coastal and inland camera footage that alternates between various areas in the area, including Lake Charles and other areas. The embed is below, but if it doesn’t work, you may see the page here. A purple screen with a countdown in the lower right corner may appear on the broadcast below from time to time until it restarts.
HurriCams states that it does not take tips or contributions, and that subscribing is the best way to support the channel if you like their coverage. “The only recipient(s) I can suggest would be one of the numerous charity initiatives and organizations that assist impacted nations and regions in the aftermath of one of the storms that this channel has covered,” they say if you wish to give money. They’ll need it much more than I will.”
User u/bphilly cheesesteak developed a webpage with several tabs showing live traffic cameras from New Orleans to Lake Charles, which can be found on Reddit. The website may be found here. It has traffic cam tabs for Lake Charles, Lafayette I-10, Baton Rouge, Laplace/Covington, Kenner/Metairie, New Orleans, and more cities. There’s also a tab that shows a live radar and another that shows electricity outages. When you click on a tab, the live cam will take a few moments to load, and each picture will display “image unavailable” until the stream loads.
Periscope was where Jeff Piotrowski used to broadcast. With Periscope no longer available, you can now watch his live broadcasts on his TwisterChasers YouTube account.
In addition, HurricaneTrack is providing live coverage on YouTube, which may be seen here and linked below. The YouTube channel changes to a fresh stream on a regular basis, so if the stream below isn’t working, go to the YouTube channel here. The broadcast alternates between several camera perspectives.
