The NBA has released a season-long calendar on its Locker Vision website as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, which includes a comprehensive uniform schedule for all 30 clubs.
During the 2021-22 regular season, 123 distinct jerseys will be worn throughout the league, with each club getting four different jersey editions: Association, Icon, City, and Statement.
Three of the league’s founding teams, the New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors (then-Philadelphia), and Boston Celtics, will wear a fifth “Classic edition” uniform early in the season and in December, in addition to the four core jerseys. The Knicks will unveil their retro-inspired jerseys on Oct. 20, followed by the Warriors on Oct. 21 and the Celtics on Oct. 22. Each club will draw inspiration from the design elements seen in their 1947-era outfits.
“Locker Vision offers consumers a bird’s-eye perspective of every [jersey] version,” Arena said.
Initially, the Locker Vision interface served as an internal platform for clubs to choose their home uniforms for the season, with visiting teams selecting their road jerseys. Specific “pro cut” uniform sizes for all players are also entered by team equipment managers, making the procedure simpler in the case of a midseason trade or transaction.
Locker Vision became a public-facing gateway for fans to delve into in 2018 after Nike signed an eight-year, $1 billion deal with the NBA to become the league’s official outfitter starting with the 2017-18 season.
This season’s edition of the website includes design detail analyses for each outfit, as well as game-specific court designs. All team accoutrements, including warm-up clothing and even the towel pattern and color used by players on the bench, are defined.

Arena said the uniform lineup for this season took three years to perfect, and the leaguewide looks for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons are also almost complete.
The player template is featured in every Locker Vision uniform preview picture wearing an unannounced Nike prototype shoe in team colors. The NBA, however, removed the color limitations for the 2018-19 season, enabling players to wear any color sneaker on any night of the season.
“It’s really been a chance for the players to showcase their uniqueness and collaborate with their footwear manufacturer to tell a more distinctive narrative,” Arena added. “It’s been accepted by the sneaker culture, and [people] are looking forward to it.”
The newest City edition jerseys will be included in the NBA’s Christmas Day lineup, according to Nike and the NBA. Only the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns will wear the same City jerseys as last season, with the other 28 clubs debuting new “hyperlocal” City designs later this autumn.
During the first three seasons of the Nike collaboration, only the Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte Hornets wore socks and jerseys with the Jordan Brand’s Jumpman emblem. Since last season, that strategy has changed, with the Jumpman now featured on the Statement jerseys of all 30 clubs.
“As we discussed the relationship and how we might engage Jordan Brand further, this concept of the Statement edition and Michael Jordan, and how he played and made a statement on the court seemed to fit,” Arena said. “It kind of locks in that statement mentality when [players] wear something on their chest.”
