Rescue Rangers Poster Declares It’s a Comeback, Not a Reboot

The original series of the show is making a comeback on Disney Junior, but it’s not the first time that the franchise has come back to life. It’s possible that this new incarnation could be an homage rather than a remake or reboot, with nods to its history in both plot points and aesthetic choices.

The “chip and dale rescue rangers” is a cartoon about two bumbling, yet heroic, animal detectives. The show was a hit in the 1980’s but has not been seen since its cancellation in 1993. Recently, it has been announced that the show will return to television in 2019 with a new cast and a new name: “Rescue Rangers”.

Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, starring John Mulaney and Andy Samberg as our beloved mischievous chipmunks, is getting the feature-length treatment thanks to Disney. Based on everyone’s beloved cartoon chipmunks, the next film will be a hybrid live-action/CG animation blockbuster. Disney+ used Instagram to announce the news, writing in the caption, “It’s been 30 years in the making, but the reboot is finally here. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, an Original Movie, will be available on #DisneyPlus in Spring 2022.”

Chip and Dale fans were overjoyed! As one person puts it, “I am not prepared!!! I can’t wait to present this to my goddaughter.” yet another, “This is a highly interesting and intelligent writing. I’m looking forward to it.”

Others were giddy with excitement! “IS THAT A DARKWING DUCK SCRIPT IN THE BACKGROUND?” and “I SEE A DARKWING DUCK SCRIPT DISNEY IT BETTER STAR BILL HADER?” “DARKWING DUCK???” and “DARKWING DUCK???

However, my first answer reflected this sentiment. “A script the size of a chipmunk!” That writing is very adorable! “It’s a return 30 years in the making,” the’monks point out if you look attentively. That script seems to have been put through the wringer!

Disney+ also shared a video of John Mulaney and Andy Samberg breaking the announcement on Twitter. Despite admitting that the small lettering was “shockingly difficult to read,” they seem ecstatic. Samberg joked, “‘Another reboot, please!’ you may be thinking. However, our film is a return, not a reboot.”
