Ben Affleck Teams with Director George Clooney in Quest for Oscar Glory

Ben Affleck and George Clooney are teaming up on a new film project. The two actors, who have both directed films in the past, will be working together on an untitled political thriller about the CIA.

Ben Affleck has teamed up with director George Clooney in a quest for Oscar Glory.

The official trailer for George Clooney’s film The Tender Bar, starring Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan, has just been published on Amazon Prime Video. As you watch a young guy raised by a committee of father figures on Long Island, each attempting in his own way to help the kid grow into a man and ultimately accomplish his goals, it harkens back to a simpler period and even sparks small Good Will Hunting memories.

According to the official description, “The Tender Bar recounts the tale of J.R. (Tye Sheridan), a fatherless kid who grows up in the glare of a bar where his uncle Charlie (Ben Affleck), the bartender, is the sharpest and most colorful among a cast of eccentric and outspoken father figures. As the boy’s determined mother (Lily Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her – and to leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous but grudgingly supportive father (Christopher Lloyd) – J.R. begins to pursue his romantic and professional dreams – with one foot firmly planted in Uncle Charlie’s bar. The Tender Bar is based on the same-named best-selling memoir.”

J.R. Moehringer’s story, which won him the Pulitzer Prize, is told by an ensemble cast that includes Academy Award winner Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Christopher Lloyd, and Lily Rabe. William Monahan, an Academy Award winner, wrote the screenplay adaption (The Departed, The Gambler). This will be George Clooney’s fourth major film to recount a real tale, after The Monuments Men, Good Night, and Good Luck, and Chuck Barris’ tongue-in-cheek book, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

Tye Sheridan initially grabbed our attention as a young kid in Matthew McConaughey’s film Mud. Since then, his fame has continued to grow. Critics praised him for his performance in The Stanford Prison Experiment. He is presently starring with Oscar Isaac in Paul Schrader’s new thriller The Card Counter.

We’re all aware of Ben Affleck’s recent activities. We’re all looking forward to seeing him play Batman in The Flash. Ben Affleck, meanwhile, seems to be delighted to be reprising his role as Batman and is zipped back into his Batfleck costume. “[The Flash] was a very wonderful opportunity to explore that since the previous experience had been tough,” Affleck said in an interview with Variety. “This was really beautiful. It was a great time… I had a wonderful experience… I adore Ezra, and I got to meet Jason [Momoa], who is now working on [Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom].’”

You can also catch him in the historical epic and thought-provoking drama set in the midst of the Hundred Years War, which explores the ubiquitous power of men, the frailty of justice, and the strength and courage of one woman willing to stand alone in the service of truth, alongside his Oscar-winning pal Matt Damon. The Last Duel was released in cinemas on October 15th. The Tender Bar will be released in US cinemas on December 17 and on Amazon Prime Video on January 17 in the United States.
