Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was given a smooth ride by veteran left tackle David Bakhtiari during Friday’s 2021 NFL training camp sessions, while injuries and dissatisfaction hit at other camps.

In Indianapolis, where quarterback Carson Wentz is sidelined indefinitely with a foot injury and Miami Dolphins CB Xavien Howard did not practice Friday due to an unknown ailment, there is concern.

In other news, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer continues to work on rebuilding the team’s culture, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady said he will remove the sleeve he has worn on his left knee and is looking forward to putting on his pads, and New York Jets fans got to see first-round pick Zach Wilson throw some passes.

Here’s everything you need to know and watch from the league’s various camps:

Howard is out of practice due to an unknown injury.

Howard, who requested a trade from Miami on Instagram on Tuesday night due to his dissatisfaction with his contract, did not practice Friday due to an unknown ailment. He ran off the field during the team’s warm-up Thursday before returning 40 minutes later and watched the conclusion of practice from the sideline. He was an All-Pro pick last season after leading the NFL in interceptions with 10. Howard’s condition was not updated by the team.

Wentz will be sidelined indefinitely due to a foot issue.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Mike Wells, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is sidelined indefinitely while undergoing further tests for a foot injury sustained at the conclusion of Thursday’s practice. At Friday’s practice, second-year quarterback Jacob Eason got the starter’s reps, with backup Sam Ehlinger filling in.

By sending the Philadelphia Eagles a third-round choice in this year’s draft and a conditional second-round pick in the 2022 draft, the Colts were able to reconnect Wentz with coach Frank Reich over the summer.

Brady removes the sleeve he’s been wearing since a knee injury in 2008.

Since sustaining a ruptured ACL in 2008, Tampa Bay’s quarterback has been wearing a distinctive sleeve on his left knee. He wore it at his first training camp session on Sunday, then rolled it down to his shin on Monday. It was over by Tuesday. He hasn’t worn it since and has no intention of doing so.

In the first three days of training camp, Sammy Watkins has been the Ravens’ best wide receiver. He’s lightning fast and has caught everything thrown his way, including a touchdown catch in the end zone on Friday. With Marquise “Hollywood” Brown out and Rashod Bateman having a poor start at camp, Watkins has stepped up.

“He’s one of the greatest receivers in the NFL, period,” Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman said of Watkins, who he formerly coached in Buffalo. Jamison Hensley (Jamison Hensley)

Although D’Andre Swift is projected to be “The Guy” at running back, Lions coach Dan Campbell believes Swift and Jamaal Williams will become the New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram in 2017-18. According to ESPN Stats & Information data, the Lions haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Reggie Bush in 2013, the longest current drought in the NFL. Eric Woodyard’s remark

Safety Denzel Perryman, a middle linebacker, has nicknamed Jeremy Chinn, a potential contender for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year as a linebacker in 2020, “Baby LeBron.” Or as cornerback Donte Jackson dubbed the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame safety Steve Atwater, “South Beach LeBron.” On the opening play of seven-on-sevens on Thursday, Chinn intercepted Sam Darnold, and he almost did it again during Friday’s 7-on-7 drills. He followed it up with a fantastic pass breakup to tight end Ian Thomas. David Newton is an author.

On Day 3 of training camp, the Bears’ defense surpassed the offense despite the return of veteran defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (sore foot). The defense blocked passing lanes and almost intercepted several passes at the line of scrimmage, led by Eddie Goldman, Bilal Nichols, and Hicks up front. Andy Dalton and Justin Fields, the quarterbacks, had some nice moments, but not enough to turn the tide. Dickerson, Jeff

The audience erupted in applause (because to COVID-19) when linebacker Kyzir White intercepted a ball and raced to the end zone (or close to it until the whistle came). Granted, it was against backup quarterback Easton Stick, but a pick is still a pick. The defense rejoiced as well. Shelley Smith says:

The defensive end depth was on display during Friday’s practice, with starter Cameron Jordan seeming to take a break in full-team drills. Payton Turner, a first-round selection, took a lot of repetitions with the starting defense, while Carl Granderson, a reserve, looked to have one or two possible sacks in non-contact drills. After releasing Trey Hendrickson in free agency, the Saints need defensive ends like them to step up. Triplett, Mike

On Friday, the offensive did not have the greatest practice. Logan Ryan was the recipient of a dreadful interception by Daniel Jones in the red zone. On a fading route, Evan Engram was the intended target. There have been a number of underneath passes, mostly for the offensive. For the last three days, the unit has seemed to be out of sync. Coach Nick Sirianni stopped play and gathered the squad about an hour into practice Friday to inform them that their performance was not up to par.

“‘Hey, this may be a microcosm of the season, at times you have your ups and downs,’ he wanted to draw attention to that. What will you do if you get off to a sluggish start? You’ve got to get yourself together.’ That was his message, and I believe we came out of practice better than we began “Ryan Kerrigan, an edge rusher, stated as much. Tim McManus, Ph.D.

Mecole Hardman, who is vying for a starting spot for the first time in his career, is off to a strong start at training camp. On Friday, he grabbed a long touchdown throw from Patrick Mahomes when he got behind the coverage, and he only gave up another huge gain when cornerback Charvarius Ward made a nice play recovery. Hardman has had trouble gaining the coaches’ and Mahomes’ confidence by always being in the right position at the right time. In that respect, Mahomes complimented him.

“I suppose you could say his maturity in terms of how he practices, how he goes about his job is totally different,” Mahomes said. Adam Teicher’s remark

Derek Carr and Hunter Renfrow, his safety blanket of a slot receiver, have an amazing connection. Carr tumbled to his right late in Friday’s practice during an 11-on-11 non-padded red zone scramble drill. Renfrow was blanketed and rushing to his right in the end zone until Carr locked eyes with him and turned his head to the left. Renfrow came to a complete stop on a dime, Carr threw, and Renfrow spun out of coverage. Renfrow’s spin was complete when the ball came. Touchdown. Gutierrez, Paul

Even in tight coverage, Ryan Fitzpatrick has faith in receiver Terry McLaurin. He had thrown to McLaurin on numerous times, who was well covered by corner William Jackson III. McLaurin, on the other hand, has a habit of coming down with the ball. Fitzpatrick said he now knows he can make such passes to McLaurin in a game as a result of it. They connected on a long pass on Friday, and even though McLaurin wasn’t wide open, he made the grab. ‘John Keim’

Eric Stokes, the Packers’ first-round selection, received his welcome-to-the-NFL moment. On Friday, he stayed with receiver Davante Adams on a fade route, covered him in coverage, and leaped at exactly the right moment during a red zone session. Despite this, Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Adams’ extended hands. After that, what did fellow Packers’ DB Darnell Savage say to Stokes? “There aren’t many 12s and 17s out there,” he added, referring to Rodgers and Adams’ jersey numbers. Adams, of course, topped the NFL with 18 touchdown receptions last season. Demovsky, Rob

Olamide Zaccheaus, a 24-year-old Virginia slot receiver in his third NFL season, has a chance to carve out a position behind Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. He has ran clean routes the first two days and made several spectacular receptions, including one in 11-on-11 practice on Friday. Michael Rothstein is a writer and producer.

Brandon Linder is in his seventh training camp, and he claimed the energy on the practice field is unlike anything he’s ever seen under previous coaches Doug Marrone and Gus Bradley. Coach Urban Meyer has the players at a different energy level, according to Linder, in part due to his dedication to give them his all at all times (for example, a new recovery area that offers various therapies the players had to previously leave the facility to get). Meyer wants to alter the culture, and he seems to be making progress. “It’s invigorating. It has a fresh vibe about it. What we’ve got going on down here is really exciting “According to Linder. Mike Purcell, a defensive tackle, departed Friday’s practice with an ankle injury. He’s an important part of the run defense, and he missed the last ten games of 2020 due to a broken foot. Coach Vic Fangio said early tests revealed a sprained ankle, but Purcell would be tested further. Legwold, Jeff

Baker Mayfield sailed numerous throws early during team and 7-on-7 practices on the first day spectators were permitted to watch practice as the offense struggled to move the ball. Later in the game, Mayfield settled in and threw touchdown passes to Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ja’Marcus Bradley, and rookie Anthony Schwartz. Jake Trotter’s remark

The flexibility to switch out receivers may be the lift the passing game has been looking for. DeAndre Hopkins lined up wide left and A.J. Green lined up wide right at one point on Friday. Hopkins was in the right slot at another time, with Green to his right and Christian Kirk to his left. Rondale Moore, a rookie wide receiver, was also receiving repetitions in the slot. In a 7-on-7 session, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow only had one completion to a real wide receiver, rookie Ja’Marr Chase. A few of drops hurt Burrow’s completion percentage as well. The team’s defense got the upper hand for the second day in a row. – Ben Little

The 49ers’ defense dominated the day on Friday, and the most promising indication was free-agent acquisition Samson Ebukam’s strong outside pass rush, which included two potential sacks during team drills. “Samson has done an excellent job. He’s in great condition, he’s explosive, and he’s powerful… He’s been everything we hoped for and more “Kyle Shanahan, the coach, said. Nick Wagoner is a writer.

On the practice field on Friday, rookie offensive lineman Spencer Brown and defensive tackle Ed Oliver got into a fight. Oliver smiled as he said, “It was only a small skirmish, competitiveness.” “I’m thinking about going into the locker room and eating with you. What happens on the field remains on the field; in the locker room, we’re all family.” — Louis-Jacques Marcel
